About This Visa

Indian ordinary-passport holders who hold a valid and current US B1/B2, B2, J, B1, O, P (P1, P2 or P3), E or H-1B visa, or a US permanent residence card (Green Card), may enter Argentina for tourism without a consular visa and without AVE/ETA. Embassy of Argentina in India cites Resolution 353/2025 (Ministry of the Interior), in force from 28 August 2025. Maximum stay 90 days.

The exemption covers only those US categories. Other US visas do not qualify. Prior use of a US B2 is not required. Tourism only — any other purpose needs the matching consular visa. Misusing the exemption can mean refusal at the border.

About This Visa

Indian ordinary-passport holders who do not hold a qualifying US visa or Green Card need a consular tourist visa. Under a bilateral agreement, the tourist visa is free of cost for Indian nationals. Authorised stay up to 90 days. Meeting the paper list does not guarantee a visa — that decision stays with the Argentine State.

Usual staff path in India: email the checklist to the Visa section for verification, then attend an appointment for hard-copy filing and a mandatory consular interview. Transitory visas may be filed at any Argentine Consular Office; Maharashtra residents often use Mumbai, others New Delhi.

Documents Required

Tourist visa checklist

  • Original passport: valid at least 6 months from intended entry, at least 2 completely free pages. Email stage: colour scan of the whole passport plus valid or recently expired visas in older passports
  • Visa application form: every question answered, signed in blue ink; print on 3 separate pages, not back-to-back; point 51 in block letters as printed
  • Cover letter to the Visa Section (Delhi): purpose, duration, passport details of the applicant and companions, who pays. Translate into Spanish. Entrepreneurs: on company letterhead
  • Employer letter: current employment and length of service (and leave if any) — company letterhead, signed, notarised, Spanish translation (translation need not be notarised). Business owner: notarised business registration + Spanish translation + last 3 years’ ITR. Self-employed or student: occupation papers, notarised/apostilled and translated
  • Travel itinerary matching the tickets
  • Round-trip flight reservations only (not purchased non-refundable tickets). Include internal flights, bus or cruise bookings if any
  • Hotel reservations matching flights and itinerary — or invitation: original letter certified by an Argentine notary and Colegio de Escribanos plus copy of the host’s DNI, or digital invitation through TAD
  • Evidence of funds: last 6 months’ bank statements, account balance certificate and consolidated balance certificate, all bank-attested (international credit-card copy if available)
  • Personal tax returns for the last 3 years and 3 months’ payslips

At the appointment

  • Original passport
  • Two recent passport-style colour photos, 4 × 4 cm, white background, front face

Consul may ask for more papers. Incomplete files are not accepted.

2. Good to Know

Rules and notes that apply to every visa type

How to apply

  1. Check the exemption first. Qualifying US visa or Green Card → tourism without Argentine visa / AVE. Otherwise continue for a consular tourist visa.
  2. Email colour PDF scans in checklist order to visas_eindi@mrecic.gov.ar (Visa section only). Subject: Verification request - Tourism - (applicant name). Split Part 1 / Part 2 if needed.
  3. After verification, attend the appointment with originals, valid dummy flight and hotel reservations, and two 4 × 4 cm photos. No staples or punches — U-pins only. No back-to-back bank statements.
  4. Interview is mandatory. Passport collection date is set after the interview (usually up to 3 working days to stamp).
  5. Maharashtra residence: Consulate General Mumbai is the usual counter for temporary/permanent files; tourist files may also be lodged there or in New Delhi.

Who can apply

  • Indian ordinary-passport holders: consular tourist visa, unless they qualify for the US-visa / Green Card tourism exemption above.
  • Exemption: tourism only; listed US categories only.
  • Transit under 12 hours staying inside the Argentine international airport premises: no visa stamp required.
  • Temporary or permanent visas: New Delhi for most of India plus Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka; Mumbai for Maharashtra residence. Tourist (transitory) files may still go to either India mission or any Argentine consulate abroad.
