About This Visa

Indian ordinary-passport holders who hold a valid Schengen, United Kingdom, Canada or United States visa do not need a Bahamas visa. Permanent residents of Schengen countries, the UK, Canada or the USA also do not need a Bahamas visa. Show that visa or permanent-residence proof with a valid passport to Immigration on arrival.

All other Indian nationals need a Bahamas visa before travel. Diplomatic and official Indian passport holders do not need a visa. An Electronic Entry Visa never guarantees entry — Border Management may refuse landing.

Documents Required

Exemption path

  • Valid Indian passport (at least 6 months’ validity; passport cards not accepted)
  • Valid Schengen, UK, Canada or US visa — or proof of permanent residence in Schengen / UK / Canada / USA
  • Return or onward ticket / means of departing
  • Funds for the stay (or a local sponsor)
  • Completed Bahamas Immigration embarkation / disembarkation card

Processing time

Standard eVISA: 7–10 business days after a complete first submission, not counting the submission day, if no interview is needed. Interview (and fingerprints if required) at the preferred Bahamas visa office named in the portal.

Stay period

Single-entry visa: one entry within three (3) months. Multiple-entry: periods of 3 months, 6 months or 1 year as issued. Leave to land at the border is separate — Immigration may grant up to about 90 days depending on the case; extend before it ends if needed.

Validity

As shown on the Electronic Entry Visa (EEV). Passport used for the application must be the passport presented on arrival.

Official and diplomatic visas are not online — contact the Visa Office.

Passport must have more than 6 months remaining. Fees are non-refundable. Pay by Visa, Mastercard or American Express only. On arrival, show the same passport and the EEV to Immigration.

2. Good to Know

Rules and notes that apply to every visa type

How to apply

  1. Check the exemption. Qualifying third-country visa or PR → no Bahamas visa. Otherwise open the MOFA eVISA portal.
  2. Choose self-sponsored visitor (or sponsored visitor if a host in The Bahamas is funding).
  3. Upload current scans, pay the non-refundable fee by card, wait 7–10 business days if the file is complete and no interview is needed.
  4. If interviewed: take the form, confirmation page and originals to the preferred Bahamas visa office named in the portal.
  5. Travel with the same passport and the EEV printout / digital copy Immigration will check.

Who can apply

  • Indian ordinary-passport holders: Bahamas eVISA unless they qualify for the US / UK / Canada / Schengen visa or PR exemption.
  • Indian diplomatic or official passports: no visa.
  • Self-sponsored = traveller funds the trip. Sponsored = Bahamian resident or legal entity funds and guarantees the trip.
  • Seaman’s visa is for ship crew — not the holiday visitor path.
