About This Visa

Indian ordinary-passport holders need a visa. They are not eligible for ETA (subclass 601) or eVisitor (subclass 651). Usual staff path: Visitor visa subclass 600, Tourist stream, lodged online in ImmiAccount from outside Australia.

High Commission New Delhi: online lodgement for subclass 600 has been mandatory since 30 September 2021. A visa is permission to travel, not a guarantee of entry — a Border Force officer decides on arrival. No paid work on this visa.

Do not quote a dollar figure from a blog. Run the official Visa Pricing Estimator for the lodgement date. The tourist-stream page last updated 1 July 2026 also points to that estimator.

Documents Required

Home Affairs — Tourist stream (overseas)

Apply in ImmiAccount (preferred). Paper form 1419 only if a legislative instrument allows it
Current passport bio-data page (photo, personal details, issue and expiry)
Evidence of funds for the stay (itemised bank statements, payslips, tax records as the form asks)
Evidence they will leave (employment, study, family or property at home; itinerary / return plans)
Visiting family or friends: host details as the ImmiAccount form asks
Character papers if asked (police certificate; military service papers if applicable)
Biometrics at an Australian Visa Application Centre if Home Affairs asks

How to apply

Create or log in to ImmiAccount. Start Visitor visa (subclass 600), Tourist stream, outside Australia.
Price the file on the Visa Pricing Estimator, then pay the visa application charge in the account.
Upload the papers above. Wait for a biometric letter if they send one.
Check grant in ImmiAccount / VEVO before travel. Print or save the grant notice.

Indian ordinary-passport holders need subclass 600. Not ETA. Not eVisitor.
Usual path: ImmiAccount, Tourist stream, outside Australia.
Work and Holiday (462) and MATES are separate ballots — not this tourist file.
