Embassy New Delhi: normally 15 days once the Embassy has the file from VFS. Extra papers or an interview add time. File up to 6 months ahead.
Stay period
Up to 90 days in any 180-day period. One C covers Schengen as issued. Single-entry: once they leave the area, that visa is finished (Embassy consular FAQ).
Validity
As issued. Multiple only if they meet the Embassy’s multiple-entry tests — the checklist says a C is not automatically multiple.

About This Visa
Indian ordinary-passport holders need a Schengen C. Usual staff path: complete https://visa.government.is (country INDIA, then the city), print and sign that confirmation, also bring the paper Schengen form, then lodge at a VFS Global centre in India. The Embassy of Iceland in New Delhi decides. VFS only takes the file. Do not use visa.vfsglobal.com/ind/en/isl — it does not load. Book the VAC VFS names when they call or email; the Embassy page says to contact VFS in India if the city is unclear.

Documents Required

- Passport: 3 months after leaving Schengen, issued within 10 years, 2 blank pages. Copies of earlier Schengen stamps if they have them
- Signed paper Schengen form plus one photo 3.5 × 4.5 cm, white background, max 6 months old. Online confirmation from visa.government.is
- Insurance for the whole trip and all Schengen states — the card is not enough. Checklist prints both USD 30,000 and EUR 30,000; keep both. Period, area, and arrival/departure dates on the policy
- Return flight with PNR and the traveller’s name. Several Schengen stops: intra-Schengen flight, train, or car hire
- Hotel, holiday home, or campus in each Schengen stop. Host stay: sponsorship / private accommodation from the host
- Cover letter: purpose, dates, who travels, transport and hotels
- Original 3 months stamped and signed personal bank statements (all pages) — every applicant, even if sponsored. Funds on the statements: 8000 ISK per day in a hotel, or 4000 ISK per day if a third party pays. Sponsor: signed letter plus signed passport copy. ITR acknowledgements last 2 assessment years
- Employed: 3 months payslips, contract, leave letter. Self-employed: company registration including GST, business bank, barcode-verifiable ITR. Student: enrolment certificate. Retired: 3 months pension and/or property/business income
- Visit family/friends: island.is invitation / guarantee as the checklist links. Spouse in Iceland: marriage or cohabitation proof. Business: signed host invitation plus employer cover letter (who, why, where, when)
- Minor: notarised consent as on the checklist plus parent ID copies
