About This Visa

Indian ordinary-passport holders do not need a visa for a short visit. Decree 464 (7 July 2022): visa-free for business, private, or tourist purposes. Not for paid work.

Stay is up to 14 days in a row. Total visa-free stay is up to 42 days in every 180 days. If they need longer, use an e-Visa or an Embassy visa — not this path.

  • Valid ordinary Indian passport

The receiving hotel or host must notify migration within 3 working days (vmp.gov.kz, eQonaq, or paper). That is the host’s job, not a visa application.

About This Visa

Use this when they cannot finish on the 14-day visa-free stay. Official portal: https://vmp.gov.kz. They need a valid invitation number from the Kazakh host. Pay the consular fee, print the e-Visa, and show it at passport control. Official instruction: entry and exit only through Astana and Almaty international airports. e-Visa is not issued to foreigners travelling with children.

  • Pay the consular fee (non-refundable on the official instruction)
  • Print the approved e-Visa

How to apply

  1. Short tourist trip (14 days or less): no visa. Travel on the passport. Host/hotel files the arrival notice.
  2. Longer stay: host in Kazakhstan gets an invitation number. Traveller registers on https://vmp.gov.kz, pays, prints the e-Visa.
  3. Embassy New Delhi: in person, weekdays except Wednesday, if they need a sticker visa. Residents of India or Sri Lanka on the Embassy tourist page.

Who can apply

  • Indian ordinary-passport holders: visa-free for up to 14 days (business, private, tourist). Not work.
  • Longer stay: e-Visa on https://vmp.gov.kz if they have an invitation number.
  • Land or rail: e-Visa is airport-only on the MFA London page. Use an Embassy sticker if they are not flying into Astana or Almaty.

Arrival notice

The hotel or host must tell migration within 3 working days of arrival — visa-free or with a visa. Official paths: https://vmp.gov.kz, eQonaq, or paper at migration. The traveller does not file this themselves.

gov.kz notice page: passport copy used for the notice should stay valid at least 3 months after the registration ends.
