About This Visa

Stop first: MEA travel advisory of 6 December 2024 tells Indian nationals to avoid all travel to Syria until further notice. Do not sell a leisure trip against that advisory. Reconfirm https://www.mea.gov.in/advisories-details.htm?47= and https://www.mea.gov.in/travel-advisories before any quote.

Indian ordinary-passport holders need a visa. They are not visa-free. There is no working official e-Visa today: https://evisa.sy returned unavailable (503). Do not send a client to a third-party “Syria e-Visa” site. The MFA (mofaex.gov.sy) lists India among countries with a Syrian diplomatic mission, but the public pages we opened do not print a tourist fee, stay, or document list. Confirm the filing path with that mission before you take papers.

Indians already in Syria: MEA asks them to stay in touch with Embassy of India, Damascus (emergency / WhatsApp +963 993385973, hoc.damascus@mea.gov.in) and, if they can, leave on the earliest commercial flight.

Documents Required

Official MFA / e-Visa pages — no tourist checklist on the pages we opened.

  • Ordinary Indian passport (same passport they would travel on)
  • Whatever the Syrian mission asks if they still accept a file that day

Do not copy agency lists (security clearance, VOA cash tables, 30-day e-Visa). Those are not on the MFA pages we used.

2. Good to Know

Rules and notes that apply to every visa type

Who can apply

  • Indian ordinary-passport holders need a visa. Not visa-free, not a working e-Visa.
  • MEA currently advises against all travel. Treat any visa file as exceptional, not a standard holiday.
  • Syrian MFA lists a mission in India. Confirm it is taking tourist files before you send anyone.

e-Visa

  • Official URL: https://evisa.sy — this check returned unavailable (503). Do not quote it as open.
  • MFA English site has no tourist e-Visa form on the pages we opened.

Watch-outs

  • MEA: avoid all travel to Syria until further notice (6 December 2024).
  • No official tourist fee. Do not quote agency USD tables.
  • e-Visa portal is not taking applications on this check.
  • No tourist transit type on the MFA pages we used. Do not invent one.

How to track

There is no public e-Visa tracker while evisa.sy is down. Indians in difficulty: Embassy of India, Damascus, on the MEA emergency numbers above.
